A new semester has started. One of the courses I am taking is ‘Principles of Information Quality’ taught by Dr. John Talburt. As the Information Quality program introduction during the first class progressed, Dr. Talburt mentioned the words ‘community’, ‘support’ and ‘network.’ My ears perked up immediately. He continued to describe an online group. The Information Quality program has a LinkedIn group named ‘UALR Information Quality Graduate Program.’ The goal is to create a community through this online tool that fulfills several goals. New students immediately have a sense of belonging and know where to turn for advice. Members can easily stay up-to-date on any news regarding IQ, be informed about job opportunities and so much more. It also gives group members a chance to easily connect with one another using this platform.
The introduction of this class was one of the best I have seen. It was very thorough providing students with an overview of the options UA Little Rock options ranging from certificates to a Ph.D. track.
I am looking forward to the rest of the class and am now thinking about such a community for the Information Science side of UA Little Rock.
